WWii veteran pfc hanse mason hamilton jr.

Hanse Mason Hamilton Jr. joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and soon after was deployed to the Pacific, where he served as a radio operator as part of the 28th Marine Regiment assigned on the first wave to Iwo Jima. When a rocket barrage struck near his position, he was injured and evacuated. After he was discharged, he returned to Texas where he attended SMU and later went to work for the IRS.

He was a member of the Marine Corps League until he passed in February 2019. In honor of his service to his country and his pursuit of higher education, we proudly offer an annual $2,500 scholarship in his name.
