scholarship honoring

LCpl Jacob d. hayes

When LCpl Jacob D. Hayes sustained injuries while serving in Iraq, he didn’t let the seizures his injuries caused affect his dreams for the future. After he received a medical discharge, he applied to the Fire Academy at Collin College. He aspired to pursue a career in firefighting to maintain the physical excellence, commitment to comrades, public service and possibility of danger he loved so much while in the Marine Corps.

However, the unexpected struck one day after he received the news he had been accepted to the Fire Academy. LCpl Hayes had a seizure while duck hunting and tragically drowned.

In honor of his service to his country and his pursuit of higher education, we proudly offer an annual $2,500 scholarship in his name.
